Citizens Bank has adopted the following
principles:
Recognition of a Customer's Expectation of Privacy
Citizens Bank recognizes and respects the privacy expectations of
our customers. Citizens Bank has taken the necessary steps to
ensure that confidential and private information our customers
share with us remains confidential. All Citizens Bank employees
recognize the privacy concerns of customers and are expected to
practice sensible "privacy safeguards" in their everyday
activities. We want you to understand what information we collect
and how we use it. In order to provide our customers with a broad
range of financial products and services as effectively and
conveniently as possible, we use technology to manage and maintain
customer information. The following serves as a standard for all
Citizens Bank employees for collection, use, retention, and
security of nonpublic personal information.
Use, Collection and Retention of Customer Information
Citizens Bank collects, retains and uses information about
individual customers only where it is required by law and the
institution reasonably believes it is necessary to administer
Citizens Bank's business of "providing financial institution
products, services, and other opportunities" to our customers. We
may collect "nonpublic personal information" about you from the
following sources: Information we receive from you on applications
or other loan and account forms; Information about your
transactions with us or others; and Information we receive from
third parties such as credit bureaus. "Nonpublic personal
information" is nonpublic information about you that we obtain in
connection with providing a financial product or service to you.
For example, nonpublic personal information includes information
regarding your account balance, payment history, and overdraft
history. Citizens Bank does not currently sell data divulging any
specific information about an individual customer's accounts or
transactions. Additionally, Citizens Bank does not have any future
plans to change our policy on selling data. In the event that
Citizens Bank begins to sell customer data, the customer will be
notified and presented with the opportunity to "opt out",
whereupon that customer's personal data will not be sold.
Maintenance of Accurate Information
Citizens Bank has established processes and procedures to ensure
that our customer's financial information maintains accurate,
current and complete in accordance with reasonable commercial
standards. Citizens Bank will respond in a timely manner to
customer requests to correct inaccurate information.
Limiting Employee Access to Information
Citizens Bank limits access to our customers' confidential and
private information to employees with legitimate business reasons
for knowing such information. Citizens Bank will educate our
employees about the importance of confidentiality and customer
privacy. Employees will be appropriately disciplined for any
failure to comply with these "Privacy Principles".
Protection of Information via Established Security
Procedures
Citizens Bank maintains appropriate security standards and
procedures to help prevent access to confidential customer
information by anyone not authorized to access such information.
Examples of these security procedures include use of computer
passwords, firewalls, network security, locked fire resistant file
cabinets, shredding of unnecessary documents, and more.
Restrictions on the Disclosure of Account Information
Citizens Bank does not reveal specific information about our
customers or their transactions to unaffiliated third parties for
their independent use, unless the information is provided:
-
to help complete a customer-initiated
transaction,
-
to help administer the institution's bona fide
business,
-
at the customer's request,
-
the disclosure of information is required, by
law (i.e., subpoena),
-
to a reputable information reporting agency
(i.e., credit bureau),
-
after the customer has been informed about the
possibility of such disclosure through a prior communication and
is given the opportunity to decline (i.e., "opt out").
If you decide to close your account(s) or become
an inactive customer, we will continue to adhere to the privacy
principles and practices described in this notice.
Maintaining Customer Privacy in Business Relationships with Third
Parties
Whenever Citizens Bank does provide specifically identifiable
customer information to a third party, Citizens Bank insists that
the third party adhere to similar "Privacy Principles" that
provide for keeping such information confidential. For example,
when you order printed checks from Citizens Bank, we provide
certain information to a vendor that prints checks. We do not
permit third parties to sell or reuse the information for their
own purposes.

Citizens Bank will make these "Privacy Principles" available to
our customers to give them a better understanding of our
commitment to safeguarding confidential and private information.
